Without that feature, some parts were being harder than they really were.Īlthough, I still maintain how I don’t fully agree with the design of the game. I’m going to have to partially retract what I said before about the difficulty in HM2. That’s still fast enough to make me replay the levels two dozen of times, but it lowers the frustration of enemies instaturning and killing me. And lo and behold, the game is more fun with a slight (13%) speed reduction. It occurred to me to do the same here, but in other direction, to slow down the game. I kind of gave up on playing it as I should, but instead of abandoning it, I remembered when I used the cheat engine speedhack in Sunless Sea to improve it. ![]() If you are going to have enemies that shot you at distance 11, why make the entire game at a zoom level where you only see up to distance 7? Why don’t make the view to have the same range than the enemies and be done with it? It makes for unwieldy combat and even gets you some more deaths because you were busy with the view. Yes, I know there is a key to pan the view and see what’s outside your normal range, but I think it’s bad design the game makes you use it constantly. Although it maybe be that they went too hard on being super hardcore, going over the edge of what people find admissible.Ĭontrols never get to feel as pitch perfect as they should be for a game this hardcore, and the game has a core problem: enemies will fire at you (which in this game it means 90% chance of one hit kill) well outside the normal screen distance, which is total bullshit. Like, I think the first game had these issues but it wasn’t until the second game where people admitted it was true (it got 11 points less in MC, that makes me think I’m right). In fact now that this is the second part and the novelty factor of the first game isn’t there, I have to say… yeah, the fever dream/psycho killer mood is well done, but gameplay wise it has some questionable parts. I’m playing now Hotline Miami 2, and damn, maybe I lost reflexes in the last 3 years (very probable!), but it is being super hard.
